A quantitative and qualitative study of orthopterans in four herbaceous environments in the city of Kisangani, using the net-fauchoir, yielded 17,233 orthopteran specimens between May 1990 and April 1991, divided into 17 species of locusts and grasshoppers, two of which were not identified. The most representative species are: Atractomorpha acutipennis, Spathosternum pygmaeum, Coryphasima stenoptera, Rodiniella insipida and an undetermined species of the Conocephalidae family.Numbers and numbers vary from biotope to biotope, and from year to year within the same biotope. The sex ratio of the most representative species is in favor of males.
