I've had this book lying around the house for many years, and never got around to actually reading. I assumed it would be one of those novels that is short in its pages, but would take forever to plow through. I was quite wrong. Not being much of a fan of Victorian era England (or per chance, Regency), I was surprised to enjoy the English parts when they popped up.I did, however, subtract a rating star because of all the plotline in India. These parts seemed to drag on and on, and I didn't much see the point in having them in the book anyhow.Don't be fooled by the cover. A little less than half of the book deals with America and the Civil War. I was disappointed that there wasn't more of the antebellum south in Pomp & Circumstance, but the rest of the story (minus India) more than makes up for the lack of detail in this area.Bottom line: A book definately worth reading and recommending.
A delightful journey!
