PolyINNOVATE: A Practical Framework for Building Resilient Relationships

Bys: Thompson, Elisha and Deaton, Chris

In PolyINNOVATE, Chris Deaton presents an actionable framework for building resilient, ethical relationships, grounded in over a decade of immersive research and teaching. Together with his partner and research collaborator, Elisha, Chris has dedicated ten years to exploring the dynamics of trust, inclusivity, and respect within the kink, polyamorous, non-monogamous, and leather communities. Their work has been recognized with the prestigious 2019 ECHO Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to the LGBTQ+ community. Both Chris and Elisha hold leather titles and continue to serve as pillars within these communities.

Drawing from his academic career in responsible innovation and board role at Arizona Power Exchange (APEX), a 36-year-old social and educational nonprofit, Chris combines his technical expertise and community-centered approach to create the PolyINNOVATE framework. This framework merges methodologies from responsible innovation to offer practical tools-such as Boundary Mapping, Emotional Checkpoints, and Inclusivity Mapping-that foster resilient, adaptable relationships both personal and professional.

PolyINNOVATE is ideal for anyone seeking to enrich their connections with ethical depth and practical strategies. With insights from Chris and Elisha's extensive community work, their academic innovations, and even mentorships with longstanding members of the leather community, this book offers readers an essential toolkit to lead with integrity, whether in personal relationships or organizational culture.
