Great First Work

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were very true to life, and the plot was engaging. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop. A rare accurate glimpse into the daily challenges of people living "downeast".

Bringing to life the realities of life in rural Maine, Kathryn's novel paints a stark and emotional portrait of one girl's bruising passage from childhood to an adult. The story leads you through many of the troubling issues in American society today, leaving you with a lot to think about, long after reading the last page. Her fascinating insights and rich descriptions of people and place make this book a delight to read.

Real life situations

I feel that this author has a great deal of talent. Not only does she portray life as it is in this depressed area, but she also gives the readers an opportunity to feel the pain and suffering that goes along with being held "captive" in a no-win situation.

Polyester Pride is funny, entertaining, sad and realistic. The characters are lively - I feel like I know them. This is an inspiring novel from a new author that shows great promise.
