This book is a celebration of Polina Miretsky's versatile art, created mostly in the last ten years of her life. After her retirement, Polina studied Ikebana with some of the best masters of the Sogetsu school. From the very beginning, her participation in numerous exhibitions of the New York City Sogetsu Chapter demonstrated a tendency to depart from classical norms, moving towards innovative, personal expression. This book contains about thirty photographs of her extraordinary Ikebana sculptures. Polina also wrote outstanding poetry. The following small cycle of poems is written in the classical style of the early twentieth century. These poems are filled with penetrating beauty and a heartfelt sadness inherent in existence.
