Caged Sky

I am a sort of Caged Sky looking for the blue yonder. Maria Lichtmann book is a real gem. Graced story of Gerard Manley Hopkin's poetry given new life. One of GMH poems is a favorite of mine. Naturally Maria's insight opens for me a wonderfull way to express pray. "The Caged Skylark" is so apt for a man like me "Man's spirit will be flesh-bound, when found at best,But uncumbered:meadow-down is not distressed...(I am quite elderly)...." GMH. Quiet, deep and helpful

I love the poetry of Hopkins but nevertheless find each poem requires hard work before I can really enter into it. This book helped me appreciate the poems and use them in prayer.
