So tiny and innocent they begin their lives as they emerge into the world and breathe their first breath, the wailing of their voices announcing their arrival and letting you know that life will never be the same. Yet, with but the closing of your own eyes, you can remember that it wasn't that long ago that it was you who was welcomed into your family, your presence forever changing your parents and the world around you. It is with wonderment and pride that you watch your children grow and develop, their maturation as different and as similar as your own, each day filled with the hopes, happiness, sorrow, grief, and enjoyment that your parents felt. As the days fade to weeks, months to years, and the present to the future, you learn to appreciate the uniqueness of a child's personality, the person that they will become as much molded in your hands as their own.
