Poems for the Common Man

Betty Jo Mings has a inspirational book of poetry that shares her heartfelt thoughts in many areas of life. Her walk with the Lord throughout her poems is evident and a powerful tool for encouragement to those who need a nudge. For others it is the perfect gift and a book you can read over and over and feel Betty's love for life and the one who gives it.

The Perfect Gift to Give or Receive, June 29, 2003

I love books that can be picked up for quick inspiration and decorate end tables in my home with them. ?Poems for the Common Man? is a ?perfect coffee table fit?. More importantly, it contains a poem entitled ?Faith?. I have read this poem over and over again as I walked through the death of my two grown sons eleven months apart. This poem brought me strength and comfort. There are many other poems in this book that will do the same for you if you are walking through a crucible of life. Not only does this little volume contain poems of comfort, it is full of poems that cover the gambit of life. It is a perfect gift to give yourself and a perfect gift for a friend. I have given this book to several friends ? it has been a gift genuinely and gratefully appreciated!

An Outstanding Family-Oriented Book

Seldom have I come upon a book of poetry that has pleased me as much as this volume.Betty Jo is a master wordsmith, a sensitive writer who presents her poetry as beautifully as a symphony or as comforting as a lullaby. Her poetry has natural progression and flawless meter. Her subjects deal with every facet of life from birth to death, the joys and sorrows of living, the foibles of human nature. But she always offers hope. "Inspiring" is too simple a word to describe her work, even though it was indeed inspired. I prefer "magnificent." This book rests prominently on my coffee table for all my guests toview.
