Amy Jimenez has been writing poetry since she was a teenager. A divorced mother of three children , she lives what she writes. An ardent devotee of the poem , like the best poets she writes with that authority of experience through the image, much like a painter. A painter, too, whose drawings in pen and ink are shared here in this book, albeit piecemeal, her skill as a poet is perhaps heightened by her love for the visual arts. She would however say It is important to remember that poetry is also visual art. Her poems are often word movies of her life.If the landscapes of her poems are familiar to many women, she manages to make her settings somehow more than merely personal or the experiences of women alone. The poems are universal in that each poem evokes memories that place all of us within the boundaries of what we all see when we look at our lives.
