Al gran poeta (1848-1880) de Puerto Rico se le considera como el m s alto exponente del post-romanticismo de su pa s y se le conoce tambi n como "El B cquer puertorrique o", no s lo por la influencia becqueriana en la m trica sino adem s en el contenido. Hizo poemas a la amistad, a la patria, al amor y a la muerte. Son conocidos sus poemas Ausencia, Regreso, y La barca. The great Puerto Rican poet (1848-1880) is considered the foremost exponent of post-romanticism in his country and is also known as the Puerto Rican B cquer, not only for the influence of B cquer in the meter of his work, but also for the content. He made poems discussing friendship, homeland, love and death. The best-known of his works are 'Absence', 'Return' and 'The Boat'.
