One of my top 5 picks for learning the Spanish language.

I commenced my journey into Spanish 3 years ago. Since that time, I've invested thousands of dollars in university courses, textbooks, and books that I've added to my own reference collection. After being summarily impressed with the Langenscheidt Pocket Dictionary, I searched for other titles within the company's offerings. This book was very hard to track down, and I finally found a used copy while on vacation in Provincetown of all places! You need this book. Whether you have issues figuring out the usage of the subjunctive, or need guidance writing formal letters or requests, or sorting through the bulk of the verb tenses and small yet essential parts of the language, this is THE book. If you can locate a copy, snag it immediately...it's a treasure trove of info. The other books I recommend: Streetwise Spanish, 501 Spanish Verbs, Océano Práctico Diccionario de Sinónimos y Antónimos, and of course the Langenscheidt Pocket Spanish-English Dicionary.

An ideal supplementary Spanish grammar

Langenscheidt Pocket Spanish Grammar is ideal as a supplementary grammar. Although one could use it as a primary grammar book it lacks exercises and vocabulary to memorize. One of the best aspects for the bilingual learner is that all of the grammatical explanations are written in English with clear examples that illustrate intended points of comprehension. As well, this is a excellent supplementary grammar because it has sections on punctuation, capitalization, writing correspondence, etc... that are not always common in an introductory Spanish grammar book. I think that this book can be help full to anyone taking Spanish classes in college or any one living in a Spanish speaking country. Another bonus of this book is the high quality binding and compact yet useable size.

This used to be part of Cassell's Contemporary Italian/French/Spanish/German series, which are now out of print. I have them all the they are the best grammar books I own. I am a language buff and own several grammars and these are the best! I had been looking for the Cassell's Contemporary Italian recently and discovered the Langenscheidt Pocket Grammars are the Cassell's Contemporary series in new editions.Too bad the French Grammar is out of print. Snatch up any used copies available. Well worth it.
