Nice learning aid

I had an extended school year class that required reading activities be performed daily. I based the program on Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, using Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium: Magical Movie Novel, and emphasized the magic and science connections. My students had reading levels that ranged from second grade to eigth grade. I wanted the students to read the book and develop their own ideas without seeing the movie first. Some of the ideas in the movie, a doorknob that selects rooms, were hard for them to imagine as they read the novel. Using this book to help them when those situations arose, allowed me to keep all but a little protion of the movie a mystery that they had to envision as they read. In the end, they got to see the movie and compare their vision and the directors.
