Pneuma

By Faye Alexandra Rose

Poets often recognize the importance of breath in their work, but research prior to writing the collection revealed that few make it a thematic concern. Pneuma is centered around experimentation and breathwork within poetry - not limited to just the biological process but carrying the emotional context through non-verbal utterances and paralinguistics.

"Like all great poetry, Pneuma takes a familiar thing and shows us those insights that we have overlooked. In this outstanding debut, breath is spirit, lightness, and the gentle breeze of love, but it can also be pain and panic, billowing into the darker corners of our memory. Most of all, it is survival: the vital evidence that we are alive and that we grow with each breath taken. With this book, Faye Alexandra Rose has established herself as a powerhouse young poet and one to watch. Breathe deeply before reading, these poems are nothing short of breath-taking."
