Plestia Alaqad grew up in the Gaza Strip, surrounded by a family that valued education and resilience. Her mother, a former head of the middle school at the American International School in Gaza, instilled in her a passion for learning, while her father worked abroad to support the family. Alongside her older brother and younger sister, Plestia attended the prestigious American International School in Beit Lahia.

Her academic journey led her to Eastern Mediterranean University in Northern Cyprus, where she pursued a degree in New Media and Journalism. Graduating in 2022, Plestia honed her skills as a storyteller and developed a deep commitment to using media as a tool for truth-telling and change. During this period, she began building a modest online following on Instagram, initially sharing travel content from places like Cyprus and Turkey.
