Orphaned Amelia is forced to marry the cruel Marquess of Beechwood after the death of her father. When Amelia flees to London, she takes up residence in an establishment dedicated to the pleasure of the feminine senses, but the Marquess catches up with her and demands they renew their vows.
The Pleasure's Daughter is one of those novels that suck you in and don't let go until the final page. The story, characters, situations and, of course, the sex scenes enthralled me from beginning to end. The year is 1750. Amelia goes to live with her wealthy aunt after her father dies. During the trip she encounters Lucas the Marquess of Beechwood -- a tall, dark and gorgeous aristocratic rogue. When she refuses to answer to his overwhelming seduction, he does whatever's possible to obtain her, even going as far as asking her aunt and uncle to allow him her hand in marriage. Used to having his way with every woman he sets his eyes on, his bruised ego cannot accept her rejection, so he proves again and again his mastery and power over her in the most humiliating ways. But when Amelia flees to London's Convent Garden district, she not only discovers the depths of her sensuality, she also sets out to teach Lucas a lesson he will never forget. There are various interesting twists throughout the novel... I hated Lucas throughout the entire novel. His ruthlessness and dark demeanor made me favor Amelia's vengeful mentality all the more. However, Lucas redeems himself in the most sensual scene in the entire novel. I love it when novels affect me in a way that I find myself caring about the characters -- and this novel did just that! BDSM is a big theme in this novel, but it is more focused on mind control than on the physical aspect of it, although there is quite a bit of that also. I give it four stars instead of five because the antiquated language annoyed me at times. I don't want modern erotica, even those with a historical setting, to use cliche euphemisms like "heaving bosom," and "throbbing member." They're incredibly corny. Other than that, this is one of the best Black Lace books I've read. Highly recommended...
Frustration and dominations an eclectic mix in this book ...

The fact that this is a 2001 reprint of a novel first published in 1998 certainly provides an indication of a new (for me anyway) and talented erotica author Sedelia Johnson ...... Set in Britain in the 1750's, Amelia our heroine is orpahned by the untimely death of both her mother and father and is sent to the hinterland to live with one of her aunts, her fathers sister. While there she meets a young, beautifull and very sexually active cousin, Connie who is being bedded by the Marquess Lucas. Lucas, of course, has all the women in the neighbourhood eating out of his hand, or whatever, and he considers Amelia a challenge and her virginity a treat. In a flash he is betrothed to marry Amelia and poor Connie get sent to London to live with another aunt while they try to hook up a new suter/husband for Connie. Lucas, since he is getting major nookie from Connie only uses Amelia as sexual entertainment and no matter how much she would beg Amelia never looses her virginity. Connie, a day befor leaving, and as a revenge for Lucas having abandoned her takes Amelias virginity. Well, I dont want to tell you how surprised Lucas was when, a coupe of days after their marriage, and in front of a whole group of libertine friends, he dicovers that poor Amelia is not that virgin bride he expected. The fact that Connie did the deed had no import to good ole Lucas ... Lucas decides to take off for a few weeks and leaves his house and Amelia in control of one of his freinds whose task it was to discipline Amelia and teach her what it's all about. Frustrated as she was Amelia takes off and escapes to London to meet up again with Connie at another aunts house ... Amelia certainly gets the training she's looking for and A LOT of relieve to her frustration and domination of her husband as Lucas decides to follow her and bring her back home ..

It's a great summer read. I took it to the beach and was done in 2 days. The book is pretty hot. Especially if you are into Maledom erotica.

This book has been one of the best erotica books that I have read in a long time. ( And I have read a lot.] The characters are excellent and I insist that every true erotica reader order a copy. This is an excellent book especially for the people who like to read about dominant males.
