Hillier helped turn our season around

I am a senior at a small high school in Minnesota. Last year, as a junior, our school won a state championship in football. I was 1 of just 5 or 6 juniors that started on the team, the rest were seniors. Following my junior year, I was chosen as a captain for the fall of 2004. Following that success from the previous year, we started our season off at 2-4. Our fourth loss came to a team that hadn't won a game all year. Since I had heard Craig speak before and remembered he wrote a book dealing with how to be a good captain for any sport, I went home that night and purchased his book and shared it with the 3 other captains. All of a sudden it was like we were a new team. "TEAM" was a concept that had been lacking. But after applying some of his tips and how we could be better leaders, we ran off 6 wins in a row. We won a section championship, won our first game in the state tournament, and then lost in the semi-finals at the HHH Metrodome in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I STRONGLY urge anybody that wants to learn leadership skills, how to interact with others, and when somebody should be given a helping hand or needs to be pushed, should buy this book! It helped turn an otherwise miserable year into a very memorable one. Craig helped get the team into the right state of mind and has helped all of the captains to be good leaders, not just in football, but in the classroom, at home, and in the community. Thanks Craig!

A MUST read for Team Captains

As an Athletic Director I am constantly amazed that we expect our team captains to step in and know exactly what we expect from them (if anything) as a captain. Craig's book is an awesome reference book for coaches and captain's alike. It really offers great ideas on what is expected of the captain and how to use this position in the most positive way. WOW! I have 30 years in teaching and coaching and this book is one of the best for student leaders! It is easy to read, gets students involved, something they will enjoy and gives life lessons.
