Playalore, the play spirit of the dwarfs, makes them laugh and skip, frolic and tease, tumble and bumble. When Mr Miserly uses a magic potion to banish her, the dwarfs lose their merriment and work hard, harder, hardest in Mr Miserly's gold mine. This makes Mr Miserly very happy, but the elves and all the other creatures of the forest and fields become sad and lonesome.
