In Global context, Mahasthan and its environs is a potential heritage site which is important to understand the cultural development by the ancient civilizations in Bengal as it represents the earliest city state in Bengal. Like many other heritage sites in Bangladesh, Mahasthan faces different challenges due to lack of long term management plan to maintain sustainable development.
