In 'Piper' Helen McCabe has created a compelling tale of evil and its capacity to transcend time. Well-researched and deftly written this modern day story based on the Pied Piper should never be read at bedtime!I look forward to the sequel.
Dark Fairy Tale

McCabe's take on the Pied Piper of Hamlin is a dark, sometimes twisted reconfiguration of the original fairy tale. The Piper of this day and age does not only mesmerize your body, but also your soul; he's a destructive force that rattles every little micro-society of his choosing. The novel is divided into two books, the second superior, in my opinion, to the first but only because it reveals not the "why" of the Piper, but the terrible "how." This is a great read for those who love a little fantastic horror in their mystery/thrillers.
