pip and the roots of rootshire
Deep beneath the great oak that holds up the whole kingdom, there's a tangle of pathways nobody remembers how to read anymore - the Roots. When the kingdom's magic starts flickering and villages lose touch with one another, it falls to Pip, a small, quick, endlessly curious messenger-sprite, to find out why. Armed with nothing but a satchel of seeds and a nose for trouble, Pip discovers that the Roots aren't just roots at all - they're a hidden map, a root directory linking every corner of Rootshire together, and something has broken the connections.
To fix it, Pip must learn to fetch what's needed, plant new pathways, and call on far-off helpers when the problem is too big to solve alone. Every step Pip takes teaches a real coding idea wrapped in fairy-tale magic - without ever feeling like a lesson.
Written to grow with its reader, The Roots of Rootshire works as a picture book for the youngest listeners, a chapter book for growing readers, and a code-annotated edition for kids ready to see the real syntax underneath the story - three books in one, and the first root of a much bigger kingdom.
