Adults and children will enjoy reading about the adventures of the Nelson family as they venture into the wilderness of Alaska hunting, fishing, and trapping. The story was taken from my family's life of more than forty years of living in the woods. We invite you to share our adventures and our observations. Most of the events in this story are true. We fed Crippled Bird for five years before he failed to show up again. By fall his feathers had grown in again but his crippled foot never turned back and he was always a little off balance. We raised four boys in the woods but pared them down into one, Mike. Wags is a compilation of the many dogs we have had in our years in the woods, with just a bit more personality added for fun.
