Pinches of Salt, Prisms of Light is a compelling book of ordinary people offering their everyday stories of love, life and compassion. Leal and Everson have brought together an eclectic group of writers who share sun-kissed stories that add a little salt to your day and a brighter light to your life. Included in the book are stories from both Leal and Everson which include bittersweet stories such as Leal's "Dave's Goofy Day," which is the story of her husband who has Huntington's Disease--a rare, devastating, degenerative brain disorder. Huntington's reduced Dave's mental capabilities from a 46-year-old man to a three-year-old who had no greater desire than to see Goofy at Disney World. Leal granted her husband's wish and in the process, realized how God continues to illumine her with His love. I highly recommend this book.
Truly a book for all "seasons."

This is one of those rare books which presents the reader with a tantalizing dilemma. On the one hand, once you begin reading it, you cannot put it down. On the other, if you keep reading, it will end too soon. Once read, you will surely hope these two renowned authors will give us a sequel--very soon!
A great example of appetizers.

Todays reader, if they are like myself, is pressed for time to read many pages of long novels. This book is a wonderful example of small bites that feed, yet leave the reader wanting more. These stories tell of others who have lived through what you have lived, or tell humorous events and miraculous answers. They are just what the weary, God-starved traveler in this too- hurried world needs. I finished the book feeling challenged to be more like Christ, and feeling refreshed and revived. But wanting more!
"Pinches" is for those anesthetized by life

Feeling blue or unfocused about your life? "Pinches and Prisms" delights and exhorts the reader in the way the master storyteller himself did -- Jesus taught by telling stories. Stories we not only hear, but stories and truths that we feel, breathe, and therefore, remember. Yet this book is refreshingly void of religious speak. Ms. Leal and Ms. Everson have penned a book for the weary of heart or those simply anesthetized by the every-dayness of their lives. "Pinches" will bring the reader to recall the delights one can find in God, bringing him/her back to remembering the kind of joy that only derives from pain. Because I am currently experiencing much pain, this book has been a heartening reminder of the unique but wild joy, renewal and strength that only moving through the pain can get ya. My heart quite soared with a chapter conclusion, "This is one soul...who cries 'Yes.'" If your soul needs a little "yes cryin'," then honey, start reading. Keep it on your nightstand and read a wee bit every night. The chapters are variously delightful and heart-rending, but pointed and short. It's an excellent way to end your day, meditating on the promulgation of the writers that ordinary people can do things in extraordinary ways. It will undoubtedly give you strength in the night, and help you to wake up renewed in the morning
Each story makes you want to read the next one.

This book is difficult to put down. It is a collection of short, simple stories of real people who find ways to add joy to the lives of others. These "pinches" and "prisms" are examples of small, and not so small, things every one of us can do to bless family, friends, and neighbors. They inspire the reader to be salt and light.
