What I liked most about this book is how the stories relate directly to what people face in dealing with chronic illnesses. I gave a copy of the book to a friend whose parents are suffering from arthritic conditions and they found it very informative and inspirational. I think it encourages people to continue to learn from life through difficulities and not to give up or give in to despair.
This book made me realize that I have arthritis, too.

I read the first story and was surprised to learn that the author, whom I knew personally as a child, had developed arthritis. Now I know, too, that I have arthritis but was in denial until now. I blamed all my aches and pains, loss of dexterity and loss of sight to either (1) a terrible car accident I was in 15 years ago, or (2) medication I have been taking for 10 years. And last month I lost my job that I had for 7 years, my boss blaming "commuting problems" for my poor attendance. I will read on, and I am going to take a copy of this book to my mom in Seattle and visit her for a few days. This book woke me up to reality: I have arthritis. Now, as I glance ahead in the book, I will be learning more about my condition, I am sure, and how other people are coping with it.
