My mother, Anna Virginia Watt Ganson, prepared an extensive genealogy of her family roots and those of my father, Arthur Lee Ganson. It gave her great pleasure in her later years to gather and compile all the information. But it was left in several files and in her computer... sure to be lost to future generations. I have challenged myself to tell the stories of how the hundreds of names, dates and places on the family tree were connected to make my family what it is. This history of our family will hopefully give my children and further descendants some insight into their roots, and to bring together the stories of families from Scotland, Norway, England, Denmark and the German Pennsylvania Dutch who joined together to create our American family. There are pilgrims, pioneers, indentured servants, cowboys, sea captains, mail order brides, each with stories to be told. Although this is written mainly so the stories are not lost to the future generations of this family, it has a common thread and will be interesting and relevant for many American families.
