I reviewed this book under a different account, and so that review does not turn up under a search of my reviews. I don't know how to fix that, so I'm going to write another review. I love this book. It is as generous, salty and wise as a good grandmother. I can't think of a person, or type of person, who wouldn't enjoy this book. Well, all right, all right, maybe a serial killer wouldn't like it, but, other than that ... Really. Insights about love, about hearts, presented in a fun and warm way. That's what you get in this book.
A Delight

"Pilgrimage of the Heart: A Hero's Journey of Love and Philosophy" is a delightful book. It's a between-book-covers version of an all night chat with a good girlfriend. Maya Namarnus opens up her heart and allows its contents to spill into your ear. She is at turns fresh and vulnerable, yenta-ish, dreamy, bitter, and humorous. Male or female, young or old, hero or anti-hero, you'll probably have several moments where you recognize yourself in her. The book is also quite beautiful. Sometimes you *can* tell a book by its cover, and this book has a lovely cover. Illustrations of dialoguing cartoon hearts emphasize the points made in the text, often in poignant and / or powerful ways. Few authors give of themselves to their readers so completely. This book is a gift from Maya Namarnus to us.
Maya's Heart

Prepare yourself for an extraordinary journey into Maya's heart. Although it is a relatively short book and easy read, it may take the reader awhile to get through. Every page provokes related memories of one's own pilgrimage through love. It paints pictures in your mind and reveals long forgotten emotions. The clear evolution of unhealthy, immature love to true healthy love is why this reader would like to see a copy in every women's shelter, high school and doctor's office. It is a book of graceful healing and gentle strength. The reader will thirst for more or similar books; however, there are none. The format, layout and outline are like none I have ever seen.Truly a reflection of her own unique style . Maya's message is not only intelligent and honest, it is her soul's imprint that she is baring openly for all; to inspire others toward their own pilgrimage. It is a book that you are never truly finished with. You will find yourself going back to it often and finding new meaning and inspiration as your own heart heals and gains strength. A beautiful and couragous testament of an extraordinary individual. Maya has given us a gift and wishes her readers to share this gift with others as often as possible.
Prolific and profound

Few author's touch your heart and soul as Maya Namarnus has in this profoundly inspirational book. She has shown us that "LOVE" can be in the sharing of a flower like the one on the cover (and throughout the book) or from a chance and breif meeting of a stranger such as Chris. Love is possible in all God has offered us to see or touch each day. I am honored to be one of the people to share this "journey of love and philanthropy". It is my feeling that this is a must read for all teenager's or anyone beginning the search for love. I also believe Oprah Book Club should consider this for their Valentine's required reading list.
Healing of a Heart Broken Wide Open

This book came to me soon after the tragic events of September 11th. Since then, I have read it almost daily as it has helped in understanding the difference between a broken heart and a heart broken wide open, to allow the healing process to take over. The wisdom of the words lead to reflection, deep thoughts, and memories once believed forgotten. This is a must read for everyone.
