PILATE HAS TO BE ONE OF MY UTMOST FAVORITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME. NOT ONLY DID I WAIT ON PINS AND NEEDLES TO GET IT, I READ SNIPPETS OF IT IN STEVEN RAGE'S MYSPACE BLOG. TEASED BY THE WRITINGS AND HOW THEY WOULD END I COULDNT WAIT FOR THIS TO GET IN AT THE LOCAL CHRISTIAN BOOKSTORE!!! THIS STORY TELLS OF THE LAST DAYS OF THE CHRIST IN THE MODERN WORLD. IT WILL TAKE YOU ON A TRIP NOT ONLY IN YOUR READING BUT ALSO IN YOUR MIND. THE "MIND VISUALS" ARE DISTURBING AND OHHHHHHHH SO HORRIFIC. I LOVE IT!! GORY, BLOODY, DETAILED AND YET JUST A WONDERFUL READ. THE VIOLENCE IS SO GRAPHIC. DEFINITELY NOT FOR THE WEAK. I HAD TO STOP A FEW TIMES TO KEEP MY LUNCH DOWN!!! Intense!

Reading the first couple of chapters, I told The Wife, "This is absolutely the most violent thing I've ever read!" Reading more, the violence continued unabated but it all fit in. This wasn't just savagery for the sake of being shocking. Once you get over the initial impact, the story is compelling and extremely well written. Between work, The Wife, and The Boy, I'm kept pretty busy so I had to hide out in the bathroom to finish the book. My advice to you: sneak this book and some snacks and drinks into your private hiding place (or bathroom) and settle down for a good read.
