Jack Sanford and Phil Denoza are not your typical detective partnerships. They are more like brothers sharing their lives.Their wives are close and their two boys play together and are great friends.Phil has shared his concern about his unhappy marriage with Jack.Even though Phil is a straight-up guy, he deserve much more happiness. When Mary, his wife, announces that she is pregnant with their second child, Phil is upset since the doctor warned her not to have another child. Jack and he get a new partner a female named Phee. As soon as they are a trio, they are immediately involved in a gruesome crime scene that involves the brutal murder of an entire. All except one son survives this horrible crime. Helping the young boy to overcome this debaucle, they find themselves falling in love. Neither reveal their love. While questioning the young boy they discover secrets in this family that are darker than they could have imagined.This is the only crime that the detectives has ever experienced before. Phil's wife dies suddenly and he falls into deep depression and guilt of her pregnancy. Soon after Mary's death Phil and Phee reveal their love for one another. They become engaged. But Phil knows he has to find the girl he left behind.Jack and Phee encourage him to search for her again. During his final search he realizes that the woman he truly loves is Phee.He returns to the precinct discovering the young girl and marrying the love of his life Phee.
