Pigs can't fly. Can they?'I wish something would happen ' said Rachel. 'Something interesting 'Afterwards, she would remember what she'd said and how she'd felt, that rainy Saturday morning, and she... This description may be from another edition of this product.
As a child I had an obsession with all things pink and piggy, (as little girls often do!) and so this meant I read any book I could get my hands on that were about pigs. My name is Rachel and upon reading this book I fell in-love with it as the main characters name is also Rachel. I still remember this book clearly, as I followed her into an exciting world and lived through her adventure of the flying piggies and the UEF concept. Now as a mature woman I still pick the book up and enjoy a reading once every couple of years. I recommend this story to any young person who enjoys travelling into a different dimension and having an adventure.
All about UEF: a great book.

Of the Emily Rodda books I have read, this one is possibly my favourite. (Though "the Timekeeper" is pretty good.) I's all about Rachel, who is sick with a cold and sick of her boring life. After a visit from her never-boring friend Sandy, she is pulled into a world almost exactly like our own. However, it has one important difference! "Inside" has wild UEF storms which cause strange things to happen. The most notable one is that it makes pigs rise off the ground and tumble around in the air. (Though the Government passing a law to make all people over 10 wear a bag of fish and chips on their head at all times is a good one!) Lots of good fun is to be had as we follow Rachel's attempts to get back "Outside", while braving the crazy effects of an Unusual Event Factor 10 storm.
