Piglet in the Hundred-Acre House: A Winnie the Pooh Fable

Once again, as he peered out of his front door that indigo sky hung overhead, shrouding the nearby Hundred-Acre Wood in seemingly neverending darkness.
The Piglet sat upon his doorstep, thinking about what his grandfather, Trespassers William, would do in this instance. That was no help at all. Trespassers had been nervous by nature and reticent to contravene, intrude, infringe or otherwise usurp anything, especially if it was written down.
So, what would Pooh do?
He would say trying to think on an empty stomach made the thoughts all slippery, so he would stick them down with honey.
Piglet tried to steel himself for a tough decision, but he found he wasn't as tough as steel. So, he thought of other things which were fairly tough, but less so than steel. Wool and custard were definitely too soft, but stone and iron were too hard for the toughness-point he was reaching for. Bread was soft, but when you toasted it, it went all hard.
Piglet toasted himself and set out, following the paw-prints.

The classic characters in a brand-new, yet mysterious and shadowy adventure that will take them beyond the woods.
This has been written respectfully and authentically to the style and whimsy of A.A. Milne's original books, maintaining that esteem for the real-life creator and his son, Christopher. It is suitable for all ages, and if you have loved Pooh and Piglet, Eeyore and the rest your whole life (as I have) this story is very likely to make you both laugh and cry.

From writer Alexander Shaw, author of The New Century Multiverse series of novels and audio dramas (including the award-winning Tiger's Eye) host of the School of Movies podcast and editor of the School of Tales collaborative Gothic anthologies.
