Pieces of You

As we live, we leave pieces of ourselves behind ... at the bus stop, at that lake outside of town, in the cool September air, in the heart of a stranger. And at times, we are acutely aware of those pieces we are leaving behind. Whether their loss is accompanied by pain or bliss, we leave some pieces willingly. But then, there are also times when we don't. There are those times when pieces of ourselves will be left behind that we neither willed nor wished to leave behind.

And this is life.

But along the way, we also get to pick up those pieces that were left behind by our mothers, our fathers, our sisters, our soulmates, and even strangers, in the different seasons of our lives.

This is the tradeoff.
