Deeply resentful of having to move from Chicago to rural Wisconsin after her father's death, teenage Emily struggles to understand her seemingly calm, hard-working mother and to come to terms with her own mixed emotions.
"Pieces Of The Picture" is the first book I ever read from the author Barbara M. Joosse. It's really interesting and it talks about how to deal with death. The book is mostly about a middle- class girl whose father just died, and she has just moved to a rural area in Wisconsin. Emily doesn't appreciate herself because she's lonely and her mother is always busy. She then finds a Canadian goose and names it Bruno. A couple of days later she is wandering around her house, and she finds a room with her mother's childhood things in it. She finds out her mother has a fun side to her. Emily's pet goose is a big part of Emily's life because when she lets it go she learns she has to let go of things. My favorite scene is when Emily finds the goose because from there on she doesn't feel so lonely! I recommend this book because it talks about how to deal with death, and how to let go of something.
