P&ID Field Handbook

Every facility has its own distinct way of showing process flows, safety requirements, risk hazards, environmental integrity, engineering documents and plant symbols. This booklet is not implying all facilities need to adhere to its content, but to help the user understand the basics of how the symbols are represented and used correctly. In turn this should help them understand the reasoning behind each facilities purpose for creating, maintaining and utilizing safety documents. Recommendations will be made throughout this booklet as good industrial practices. It is up to the user to view these good practices and apply them to their facility as much as practical. The goal of this booklet is to help each user create better P&ID's and understand their purpose in plant safety.
