In July every year we would go huckleberry picking. Huckleberries were like blueberries except smaller and sweeter, and they grew on low bushes in the woods. Sometimes we picked huckleberries on Ross Mountain. We could see Ross Mountain from our front porch. It was hard to make it back without eating all the delicious huckleberries, but we did. When we got them back home we prepared them for freezing. But Mama always kept out enough for one of her delicious pies.
