Do not look at this as a children's book. This is a good starting place for all.
It is a simple introduction to physics. There is no real depth, so you will not get bogged down with too much detail. There is little technical jargon, so you will not have to spend much time with your nose in a dictionary. There are nice, simple diagrams that help short of a video presentation.
Because this book focuses on physics, you will not get a bunch of metaphysical claptrap mixed up with how the world actually works.
This book presents several anecdotes that put the physics you are going to read about in context; it is not just a dry physics book.
