Physics by Hand-Holding is a text designed for first semester trigonometry-based physics courses at Southern Utah University. This book contains course-specific content for PHYS 2010, including exam study materials and homework assignments. It is not designed for general course adoption. ""I'm not going to hold your hand."" Students might hear this or a similar phrase from their physics professor. It usually means that the professor wants the student to master physics by struggling on their own. Those who survive this treatment develop independence impossible to gain in any other way. This is the correct way to teach physics. It is also not the approach taken in this book. Physics By Hand-Holding throws derivations and lengthy development of abstract physics concepts to the wind in favor of introducing problem-solving strategies early. This philosophy here is that physics is implicit in the problem-solving rhythm taught in introductory physics classes.
