This study assesses the contamination generated by leachates from the Sidi Yahia uncontrolled landfill. Analyses show that young leachates are acidic (pH 5.2) and rich in organic matter (DBO₅ 390 mm Hg), while old ones show advanced mineralization with high conductivity (37 mS-cm- ) and high ammonium concentrations (107 g-L- ).The dam water is highly contaminated, unlike the well, which shows natural attenuation. Soils show significant physico-chemical changes depending on their exposure to leachates. The field survey revealed worrying socio-sanitary impacts on local populations and refuse collectors. Controlled waste management is needed to limit the transfer of pollutants.
