GREAT HISTORY

If you enjoy history details and great photography, this is the one for you. It is a Taschen book, and as always, you get great printing and wonderful layout. You definitely get the stories behind some of the fantastic photographs in history, such as "Emperor Maximilian's Shirt," "Sarah Bernhardt" portraits, early nudes, "Bismarck on his Deathbed," etc., etc. - one wonderful photo after another. And the author also explains some of the techniques and background in the era when the photos were taken. Very well done and quite enjoyable...a valuable visual source for historians and writers. Bravo!

Elegant little book on the history of photography

The Taschen Icon books are impressive little books, quality paper, construction, and well written. This takes us through the early history of photography via iconic images and the noted photographers who took the pictures.

Very good book about the most important icons in photography history

In my humble opinion this is a very good book about the photography's history through his most importants personages in chronological order. This is not a photo book, instead is a very well written book about photography itself with some good photos in black and white. The book is entertaining and very good edited, the quality of paper is very good too. Sum up, in my opinion is a very good choise for the money.
