Great Workbook for Tutoring!

I wish this book was still in print!!! I tutor a 2nd grader (usually a 2nd language learner) for an hour, one evening a week during the entire school year. The color illustrations in this workbook make it especially fun. It starts easy giving me a chance to see what they know and building their confidence. It quickly moves on to more challenging grade-level-reading exercises. Since it covers the basics nicely, it makes a good reference tool for the child to keep at the end of the year. I combine this workbook with a complete stack of 2nd-grade-sight-word-flash-cards (I get the cards they miss that day and repeat them next session; they have fun striving for the most cards). We also choose a series of books (like Mr. Putter & Tabby) to read for fun and comprehension during the year. I love sharing this well-organized workbook with my kids!
