When Jimmy Foster graduates high school, he knows right where his life is heading-he has the perfect checklist and everything. During his first semester of college, his parents get divorced, sell off his childhood home and move, leaving him depressed and confused. With no home to return to, he decides that leaving the safety of his set-menu life is his best option. Jimmy drops out of college and moves to exotic Phoenix, Arizona to sell security systems door-to-door. Now that he's really on his own for the first time, Jimmy tries to experience an entire teenage rebellion in all at once. He's can't take your word that the stove is hot, he has to lick it for himself. Then Jimmy meets a fiercely independent girl named Caroline who seems to have it all: perfect smile, steady job, and one semester left in school. She seems to be everything Jimmy wishes he could be and the stability he desperately seeks. As they fall for each other, Jimmy discovers that validation from a green-eyed girl is worth any cost. But Jimmy fears that if he can't get his life together in a hurry, Caroline won't stay with him. She's been burned before and isn't looking for a project. Faced with losing the most important thing in his life, Jimmy hopes he can get his life sorted out before it's too late.
