Phoebe, Junior: Nonsuch Classics

By Mrs. Oliphant and Margaret Oliphant Oliphant Oliphant

Book Overview

Phoebe, Junior , the last of the tales that made up the Chronicles of Carlingford, brought to a close one of British literature's best-loved series. Phoebe, Junior, however, has long been regarded as a wonderful tale in its own right, a hidden treasure in what can often become a tired parade of the usual suspects. This wonderful volume, by Queen Victoria's favorite novelist, is simply one to relish.

one of oliphant's best

Wonderful novel. It helps if you have read the Carlingford Chronicles before reading this since it refers to characters from her previous novels. My favorite was The Perpetual Curate, next, MIss Marjoribanks, then this one. There are 6(?) or 7 in all of the chronicles.
