This is the story of Bronson Dave Avery, a school teacher who works with disabled children. Answering his own personal call to destiny, he goes on a hero's journey in Cambodia before and during the rise of Pol Pot and his atrocities against his own people. Along the way, Bronson meets many people who are key to his fate and to the fate of Cambodia itself. In particular, he wanders into the circle of a crusty newsman named Cliff Gresham, a temperamental music composer named Jerry Villanueva, and an American Marine Major turned cult leader and mystic known as Michael The Prophet. Together, Bronson and his bizarre friends work against Cambodia's genocidal tyrant and are instrumental in his final overthrow. Bronson, also saves many Cambodian children and their families from Pol Pot's clutches. Through this terrible time in Southeast Asian history, the schoolmaster rises as a hero despite his being autistic.
