How did Paul find joy in a Roman prison cell? He didn't He took his joy in Christ into jail with him. Paul's circumstances did not dictate his attitude. In this letter, he demonstrated several life attitudes that were shocking in their audacity and counter intuitiveness:

Great book!

This book is great. We will be using it for a Bible Study on Philippians in the fall. I highly recommend most of John MacArthur's writings.

helpful study

Our LifeGroup (Sunday School Class) is going through the book of Phillipians verse by verse, so I bought this for my husband (the teacher) to use as he prepares the lesson each week. It's been very helpful structure-wise and goes along side the commentators (especially since one is MacArthur)he uses very well.

Best Expository Writing I have ever read...

I and several of my friends from my church have used John Mac's commentaries and we all have deeply enjoyed the amount of spiritual nourishment he brings to the layman's table. These commentaries (I have almost the entire New Testament), have been written in a language that is easy to understand. You do not have to be a Phd seminary student to learn from these books. I appreciated how JM would use additional scriptures and other references (including opposing views) that keeps/supports the context of the text. I have used these commentaries for years in my personal devotional study times. I haven't seen any other commentary that has come close to JM's expository teaching... which so clearly and beautifully speaks to me and my friends regarding Christ and the Church.

THE BEST. Excellent. I highly recommend. As with all of Dr. John Macarthur's works, this is packed with life changing Biblical TRUTHS, wisdom and sound doctrine.
