Un desfile que se va transformando mediante el extraordinario uso de la sintaxis y merced a la significaci n otorgada a ciertos s mbolos, como el color (rojo y negro, sobre el gris de la niebla, el azul del Neva, el verde gris ceo del mar, el bermell n de los palacios, el bronce de la fiebre...), en uno de los sue os m s subyugantes que jam s haya dado la literatura.

This masterpiece of 20th-century Russian prose reflects the literary innovation proposed by Andrei Bely at the time.

Petersburg, the city, is the true protagonist of this novel. Conceived and presented as a closed geometric space, configured between Nevsky Prospect and the Neva River, between gray alleys and reddish palaces, it appears as a living, thinking, and sentient being.

A pulsating being on which the characters appear as tormented and grotesque puppets, and which is traversed by two mysterious ghosts: the Bronze Horseman (the statue of Peter I, symbol of paternalistic and oppressive power, conceived as the soul of the city and of power by Pushkin, but still today the emblem of the city) and the Flying Dutchman, which is the Neva, and the port and the Other.

A parade that is transformed through the extraordinary use of syntax and thanks to the significance given to certain symbols, such as color (red and black, over the gray of the fog, the blue of the Neva, the grayish green of the sea, the vermilion of the palaces, the bronze of fever...), into one of the most captivating dreams ever given to literature.
