Oldie but Goodie

This book on writing by Shirley Haley-James,provides the reader with the knowledge that children need a variety of writing experiences, such as writing about prior experiences or things they like. This variety is necessary in order to become successful writers, or even to begin writing. It specifies the teachers' role in providing these experiences while motivating and supporting children's writing. It provides several methods like "Whole Language Approach" and "Functional Writing Programs," which help teachers facilitate the teaching/learning writing process. It is a good resource for viewing samples of previous writing experiences and reflective comments from instructors.
