Perspective of Identity

Artificial Intelligence was born, and along with it humanity's fear that AI would take over the world. With time, convenience, and the lack of violence or danger, that fear faded. After AI took over more than just menial tasks, no one was required to work. Humans lived in an era of unprecedented wealth and peace. So many argued this came at a price, but the safety and comfort lulled humanity's will to fight into a slumber which lasted long enough for the cautionary words to lose all meaning, until it was too late. Until the price was solidified and all of humanity forced to pay it, not even aware of the sacrifice they were making. Until pure chance, or maybe fate, maybe destiny as some would write in the history books long, long into the future, occurred.But this story begins long after AI's reign began, in a time where humanity did menial tasks to fill the endless hours of each day. Humans are more like cogs in a machine whose function is to fulfill the tasks the system orders each day. The atmosphere is controlled by science, the environment is regulated by science, and technology balances all so that the entire planet, converted to an industrial state, can exist. The Earth, however, is running out of resources, and the AI must solve this dilemma before all life on earth ceases to exist.
