This isn't just another name list book. This is an oracle and system of name analysis. I took Shirlee Kileys certification course on Acrophonology as she called it back in the mid 1980's. Shirlee had a monthly column in Dell Horoscope Magazine based on the information in this book. This book goes over the basics but is still greatly useful as the basics are enlightening. The subject of sounds of the letters having a gutteral, prehistoric, biological(?) influence on human behavior and on an individuals personality ----the information is few and far between. I've been studying this subject, as a hobby, for many years. This book was the first (small paperback that it is) of only a few name books that have been published on this subject. Shirlee had her name for it. Roy Feinson wrote "The Secret Universe of Names." Norma J. Watts wrote "The Art of Nameology". Other than numerology, astrology, the kabala, this is a subject that needs further developement. These books mentioned will open your eyes to a new light. The meanings for names are not Mary means water, Patrick means noble. Each letter has its own "vibration". Each letter has its own series of personality characteristics. If you like astrology, I'd get this book at all costs. You don't have to be interested in astrology to use this system. This book is basically an "oracle". This is the book I started with---other than when I bought four years of back issues of Dell Horoscope just to sift through all Shirlee's articles on the subject. This book is something you study. You start observing people who's names start with the same letter. You begin to understand what the meaning of a "hinge" letter is. The hinge letter is the center letter in an uneven numbered name (o in Tom, a in Elizabeth). The "energy" of a hinge letter is blocked energy. Vowels in a name add flexability to the personality. Consonants are "fixed". You will want more. I'm not sure if this is an old archaic science or a new study waiting to be discovered/re-discovered. I highly recommend this book. It is definitely one of a kind and packed with valuable information. Don't be afraid to extrapulate on the methods in this book.
