What if you could control quantum randomness? Hard science fiction, romance, intrigue, quantum mechanics. Ross and the rest of Quantum Agents had solved the problem of teleporting living beings, including humans and, particularly, Ross and Leanne's baby. They had built vehicles that they called t-buggies to carry them while they teleported. Then they had begun planning to build a teleporting spacecraft. The Chinese intelligence agent, Li Xinshu, had employed quantum-metals-extraction to remove all of the copper from a vast copper mine in China. The resulting catastrophe had led to his loss of face and determination to destroy Quantum Agents. Ross began experimenting on changing the rate of radioactive decay; he was worried that the Chinese might think of it and use it to produce pocket-sized atomic bombs. He performed his experiments at the Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge and thus met Brigadier General Doug Mason of the DIA. Li's first attempt against Quantum Agents, a direct assault on their homes by North Korean commandos, had been a complete failure. However, JJ had met Doug, so something good came of it. Now, Ross and Leanne were preparing to test a pocket-nuke; Carl and Brandy were preparing a major philosophical conference on free will; and Li Xinshu was learning what happened to his commandos.
