Permission Accepted

Alone in my freshman dorm during a holiday break, I experienced DT's. I had no conscious contact with anything. I was admitted to a hospital and stayed there for eighteen months. For the first two months, I was comatose. Then I was battered by twenty-six rounds of electroshock therapy.
After seeing my physician for two years, I asked him why he always greeted me using my full name: "Hello, Diane Jane Everett."
He said, "Because two years ago, you didn't know that was your name."
In Permission Accepted, I finish telling the story of my recovery. I was yelling: "Why am I going through this?" The Divine answered, "Why not you? When you go through this experience and share it, no one else will have to go through this again. It's going to be done. It will be finished."
I received permission to live. And I accepted.
