Perla Zayd n Pubchara (1920-2000), was born in Lebanon, arriving in Cuba when she was one year old. In this pages you will find the story of her life on the Island, the founding of a large family (she had eleven children), and the development of a successful business, a pharmaceutical lab that gained great popularity during the 1950s. After Perla's passing, her daughters Linda and Perlita found a manuscript written by Perla that gave account of that period of her life. Surely she must have written it to let her family know the details of what had been a fruitful life in every sense of the word. While Perla had--in almost successive fashion--a large collection of children, she had the energy, enthusiasm and the business acumen to create an entreprise starting from scratch, and her recollections, compiled by her daughter Linda, not only reveal the profile of an extraordinary woman but also provide interesting clues about how things were in Cuba around the middle of the 20th century, of the opportunities that existed there, and of the characteristics of a society in which one could be successful by one's own efforts and honest work.
