Jade is a twenty-nine year old confident woman with two passions in life - her work and a mission to find out what happened to her sister Mikateko, who disappeared from Soweto during the political freedom struggle of the 80s. Her parents, especially her strict and dictatorial father, forbid anyone from talking about Mikateko, making it difficult for Jade to get any leading information. Her new colleague, Tiyani willingly joins her painful and at times funny crusade to search for Mikateko. Kate lives in Geneva with the husband, Alexandre, and their two children. A visit to her doctor reveals that a minor ailment has escalated into a chronic kidney disease, and is given a year to live, unless she undergoes renal transplantation - Alexandre and their children, the sexy Marco and daughter Gabi are all incompatible donors. When Alexandre is awarded a mining contract in Southern Africa, he convinces Kate to travel to her home country with him and their children, hoping that she will change her mind about reuniting with her family, and hopefully get a compatible kidney donor.
